What is Elemi Resinoid?
Elemi Resinoid is extracted from the Manila Elemi tree. Elemi Resinoid is a semi-solid, pale-yellow substance which is obtained through solvent extraction of the resin from the Manila Elemi tree. It is known for its distinctive lemon-pepper aroma, and particularly valued for its ability to stabilise lighter fragrance notes.
Origins of Elemi Resinoid
Elemi Resinoid originates from the Philippines, where the Canarium luzonicum tree grows in their tropical rainforests. The oleoresin is obtained from the treeās bark and is later refined to create the resinoid. This region remains the main source of Elemi material for both the fragrance and flavour industries.
What does Elemi Resinoid blend with?
Elemi blends well with a wide range of aromatic profiles. Elemi resinoid harmonises with citrus oils like lemon, lime, and bergamot, and adds depth to spicy oils such as clove, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
Elemi resinoid can also be paired with floral oils such as neroli to add freshness and balance in both fragrance and flavour concepts. Elemi and Frankincense is also a common pairing.
