Buchu Oil Betulina is an essential oil that is sourced from the leaves of an agathosma betulina plant, which can also be know as a buchu shrub.
The oil is extracted by steam distillation and is dark yellow to brown in colour. Additionally, the essential oil has a strong aroma that is similar to blackcurrant, mint and peach.
Origins of Buchu Oil Betulina
Buchu shrubs and therefore Buchu oil betulina is native to the Western Cape area of South Africa. During the months of May to August, the buchu plant is brightly coloured and features white shaped flowers.
The name buchu betulina originates from the word ābarosmaā which is Greek for āheavy smellā
