Basil Oil Methyl Chavicol Type

Ocimum basilicum

CAS: 8015-73-4

Steam distilled from the Ocimum basilicum plant. This oil naturally has more Methyl Chavicol as part of its chemical make-up. This separates it from the Basil Oil Linalool type material and gives a different flavour and fragrance profile. The oil usually presents as a pale yellow liquid with a penetrating herbaceous odour and flavour. Grown in multiple geographical locations, major commercial operations take place in Vietnam and in India.
