What is Benzoin Siam Resinoid oil?
Benzoin Siam resinoid is a thick, sticky resinoid that is created by a styrax tonkinensis tree, which is native to Southeast Asia.
Benzoin Siam is created when volatile compounds are extracted by solvent extraction and then mixed with alcohol to create the liquid form.
The oil is light yellow or orange-brown in colour and has a rich, warm, vanilla-like scent.
Origins of Benzoin Siam Resinoid oil
Benzoin Siam is native to Southeast Asia, specifically Thailand and Vietnam. Benzoin is extracted from the tree by making incisions in its bark, this usually takes place during the warmer months of April to July and the gum is harvested and turned into oil the following winter.
Benzoin Siam is commonly used as a base note in perfumes but can also be found in baby products, soap and hair care.
What does Benzoin Siam Resinoid blend well with?
This resinoid blends well with warm floral oils such as heliotrope, jasmine, rose, amber and lavender. Typically, benzoin is used in small concentrations of 0.1% - 10%.
