Steam distilled from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia tree, Tea Tree oil finds many uses. Originating in Australia it has been used as an antiseptic for many years even being given to troops during the first world war. It used to be sold as a dental gargle in its own right. It is often used to impart a warm-spicy note to fragrances. Tea Tree Oil presents as an almost water-white to pale yellow mobile liquid with a fresh earthy terpenic odour.
