Steam distilled from the pepper-like fruits of the Litsea cubeba tree, the Oil finds many uses in flavours and fragrances. The Oil also has a high content of citral so it is therefore often used as the starter for the natural isolation of this aromatic chemical. It is of use in flavour and fragrance compounds in order to add a lemony taste and odour to the final application. The oil presents as a pale yellow to yellow-orange mobile liquid with a herbal lemon sweet odour.
